Has SEO MOVED to another Level?

I am an owner of a seo company and constantly researching for new seo techniques to improve mine and my client’s rankings on the search engines.
I feel in the last 12 months seo as moved to another level and the old guard meaning the previous top seo companies who ranked on the search engines are being replaced by more informative web development companies, who bring new and fantastic seo techniques to the industry and the other seo companies have no concept of this and l feel them and their clients will be left way behind.
All these new seo techniques that the web developers have brought into the seo industry is a freshness and dynamic way of making your website more informative to the  search engines and more user friendly and interactive; it proves the web also as moved to another level.
Certain seo services will be fearful of this and will also know, not only will their clients move away from them in search of these new dynamic website providers, but with the current credit climate as it is, this will kill them off, is this a good thing or a bad thing?, me personally feel not only is it a good thing but it was a much needed thing to help clean the industry of certain so called seo providers who do not have any idea of seo and are just stealing their clients money and resources, their search engine optimisation techniques are so dated,  l am ashamed to call myself an seo consultant, if that is what they call themselves, maybe we need to come up with a new title for the kind of the service that we provide.

Why National SEO

I was speaking to one of my former colleagues who was an seo consultant at an seo company who l used to work  for a couple of years ago, he was just updating me of the seo companies current circumstances regarding there seo services  and former colleagues since l left.

He mentioned that he had left the company also and him and another former colleague had setup their own internet marketing company and they was doing quite well for a new start up business.

He also claimed the owner of the previous company had been researching his website and steeling his ideas and trying to compete for the key phrase which he was targeting, he mentioned the search phrase National SEO,  now me personally would have not chosen national seo as a search phrase to generate enquiries, but he did and they rank number 1 on Google for it now, only for his previous boss to now target the key phrase national seo and try and outrank him on the search engines for it, now l know its not ethical for companies to do this, but the web is a free space and me personally always like the challenge of competitors trying to outrank me, if you do not except challenges you will become stale, and as we all know search engines like uniqueness and up to date information.

The conversation between my former colleague ended really well and l wished him the best of luck for the future and that hopefully he will still manage to keep his ranking for national seo, but  personally l fear not as l know the other seo company have better resources and techniques regarding search engine optimisation and l feel his days of ranking  number 1 for national seo on Google are numbered.

Ranking for Generic Keywords
In a time when seo has become so competitive,  ranking on the search engines for multiple keywords is difficult enough, but when a client ask you for a generic keyword, what do you say.
I have many clients who have asked me to do just that.
I have a chauffeur client who asked me to help him rank on Google for one worded phrases, chauffeur and chauffeurs, l obliged the client and took it as challenge, l wanted to know if my search engine optimisation skills was good enough to do this.
Since taking up the challenge, l have now the pleasure in telling you the client ranks in the top ten for one word chauffeurs and is currently number 11 for the word chauffeur.
The client expressed is delight in showing him that he now ranks for the generic keywords.
To my amazement my client then recommended me to his colleague in a similar sector the limo industry, l met the gentleman in question, he explained he had seen what l had done for his colleague and that is current seo company who was optimizing his website was not doing a great job, l asked him how could l help, he explained that he knew that most of his customers was typing in a single keyword limos and this is what he wanted to rank for.
Again l set myself an almost impossible mission, but anyone who knows me, knows l like a challenge.
3 months in to the challenge the client called me and notified me he found his website was on the 1st page of Google for one word limos, he also notified me that he had another website and would love me to do the seo on this website as well, again you know it,  he wanted to rank for a single keyword, Limousines, now l know have generated some success with the generics, but a bit of luck was involved and normally l would not optimize for single keywords, but again l said yes, and yet again l can gladly say that they rank in the top 3 in Google for one word Limousines and also are on the 1st page for one word limousine, how good is that.
Now the word gets round that l can optimize generic keywords, and another colleague of the 1st client contacts me and says that l am just the man to promote his website, you guessed right for one word phrases headstones, now l know l like these challenges, but clients do not realize the time and effort that goes in to a project of this scale, but l think you have got to know me a little bit by now and l accepted the challenge of promoting is website for the word headstones.
Surprisingly it took me a maximum of eight weeks to  have the website ranking on the 1st page of Google for one word headstones, l have had the website  featuring as high as number 2, but mostly in the top 3 on Google.
Now if you come across this article please do not set me a challenge of this nature, thank you.

SEO Techniques Web Page Layout Part 1

SEO techniques are things that a good seo company will implement when they are optimizing your website for the serps.

There are many seo techniques that can be used to do this, some are ethical and some are unethical, today we are going to discuss which seo techniques are ethical and will help you achieve a high ranking on Google and other search engines.

A key seo technique that a seo webmaster will use is web page layout, when we say web page layout, we mean your website, laying your website out for the bots, i.e search engine crawlers, programs that index your website, index, is just another phrase for read.

Search engines send their bots to index every website that as been submitted to them and also ones that they have found via a link from another URL.

The search engine bots crawl your website to find out what actual information is one the website and what and whom are you to provide this information to, if a search engine bot lands on your site it will try to navigate the entire website as long as there are no broken links, certain sites cannot be indexed by the search engine bots, and some websites will kick out the bots.

So when we say web page layout we mean to make sure that your website is friendly to the search engine bots, it is the search engines that are going to give you high rankings, so no matter how much you spend on the website and how attractive it is visually, if the search engine bots cannot index correctly, you will not achieve a high status on the serps, plus you have wasted your money building the site.

There are certain elements of the website that are key to seo, the 1st is Title Strings, titles strings are the first point of access to a website for the search engine bots, plus 90% of the time this is what will attract your target audience, so the title string of the page needs to be complimented with an attractive phrases of what you are all about or what you are selling.

Meta Tags can be found in your source file of your HTML, there are two forms of Meta Tags that seo companies work with, there is the  META NAME DESCRIPTION and META NAME KEYWORDS , the META NAME DESCRIPTION is were you would include a short but unique complimentary description of your products or services that the end user will find on the web page if they navigate to it, the  META NAME KEYWORDS is where you would include a singular or plural keyword or keywords of the products or services that you are selling, each separated by a comma.

Top SEO Ranking

I have just been reading the latest results of the top seo companies in the world according TOP SEOS, ( TOP SEOS a so called governing body) made up of certain seo companies and internet marketing companies, personally l have no time for these so called governing bodies, the more you pay the better TOP SEOS rates you.

Here is a link to the top 10 seo companies of 2009 according to TOP SEOS, do not take the results to serious, as l used to work for one of the seo companies who feature in the top ten, and if they are one of the best in the world, all l have to say people, do not bother hiring a seo company.

The company whose name l shall not mention who was voted in the top ten were claiming the usual bragging rights in their local paper, personally l would like them to publish it nationally and see what other seo experts and seo companies would have to say, probably laugh.

This so called seo company do not feature on the first twenty results of Google for the word SEO or SEO Company, and feature on the 2nd page of Google for search engine optimisation, now l am not slating them, because there are far worse seo companies than the one that we shall not mention and yes they do get some results for certain clients, but to be honest if they one of the top seo company in the world, l would hate to know the others.

When l worked for the seo company, we did an exhibition in London and we displayed our so called Top SEO award back then, yes they won one then as well, nearly every other seo company who attended the exhibition also had an award exactly the same, strange l thought.

Something that l did notice, two big companies, like  Just Search and Big Mouth Media were not on the list, yet l know this for fact that these two seo companies are definitely in the top ten seo companies in the world.

The reason they probably do not feature on the so called TOP SEO ranking of 2009 is because, they did not subscribe, yes you heard me, subscribe, you have to subscribe to TOP SEOS before they will rate you, funny,

Real seo companies do not pay for plaudits or recognition, they rate themselves on having achieved top search engine rankings and client testimonials.

Well how do l do this l hear you ask,  l say the three magic words and that’s it, no only joking, as part of our seo services, when a client contacts Proweb Direct,  they inform us what they would like to feature for on the serps, and tells us the fame old story that the guy on top of the search engines is a cowboy and he only has one shop or works out of his garage or they are reseller, something like that, they all sound the same, back to the point, the company think they know what they want to feature for, Proweb Direct explain that a keyword analysis is needed,  we perform a keyword analysis, this  helps us identify what the actual target audience .i.e customers, keywords, phrases and search terms that will drive a high volume of quality relevant traffic through to the website, , well has l always say to the clients there is no point featuring on top of Google if you are not going to generate any traffic or sales, and they always agree, that’s why they call me SEO Steve, its my job to know and inform the client of these services, unlike other seo companies l would like to mention, l was going to actually name a few, but l do not do those sort of things , l concentrate on what l know and what benefits my clients, lets get back on track.

Once the keywords have been decided by mutual agreement the client and the seo account manager, its up to me or one of my seo colleagues to do the on site search engine optimisation, on site search engine optimisation, l hear you mention, yes, search engine optimisation, it is where we work on a website, laying web pages out specifically for the search engine indexing programs and end users, most websites are laid out for end users only,  what they  do not realize websites need to be correctly laid  out for search engines, most websites looks good visually and have  the flash banners  and music, l say whats the point if they cannot find your website, again l have been sidetracked, all the web pages are made as informative  as possible with informative text about products and services , Meta-tags and H1 and H2 headers, Title strings and other parts of html coding are complimented with products and services.
